The Unified Training System or U-Train is a system of method, concept and style. It is more than just a method, or a concept or a style, U-Train is a full system.
Unified Training System ( U-Train ) is comprise of three elements - method, concept and style.
The first element is METHOD. Method teaches the step by step procedure on how things should be done. There are many kinds of training methods that are available today, there are those that practices only Tradional methods, while others practice the Modern and scientific way. Each methodology has its own advantages and disadvantages, the problem with training with only one method is that, the practitioner only gets what that particular method can offer.
Unified Training System ( U-Train ) combines the advantages of the traditional, modern and scientific training methodologies making it a hybrid method without losing the essence of the method. This is the basis of systematic and structured training methodology that gives the practitioner the maximum output and effect in the practice of Arnis, Kali, Eskrima.
The second element is STYLE. On contemporary setting, style often refers to the group of Arnis practitioners (e.g. Doce Pares, Balintawak, Modern Arnis, etc..) , or type of delivery of techniques (long range, medium range, and short range styles), or maybe origin of the specific technique (Tagalog style, Visayas style, etc...). The problem with specific style training is adaptibility, practitioners of a specific style finds it difficult to adapt to other styles.
In the Unified Training System ( U-Train ), the practitioner is taught of what to do and how to adapt in a fight situation . By knowing what to do, the practitioner of Arnis, Kali, Eskrima becomes effective in the disposal of strike, blocks, counters, thrust, butt, empty hand and take down techniques. And by knowing how to dynamically adapt the practitioner can deploy long, medium, short ranges techniques to different fighting situations.
The third element is CONCEPT. Concept is one of the missing elements In today's practice of Arnis, Kali, EsKrima. Nowadays, Arnis, Kali, Eskrima is being taught as simplistic as it can be, there is no problem with this except that the practitioner does not know the why's, what's and when's of the art. Thereby leaving the practitioner in practising the art in a wrong concept and in a wrong way.
Concept is the reason and principle behind the things that we do. Unified Training System ( U-Train ) does not employ 'Practice makes perfect', it employs 'The RIGHT practice makes perfect'. Through knowing the reason and principles behind a technique we answer the questions like: Is it effective? Can I use this technique for this kind of situation? Is this technique for me?.
Using the Unified Training System or U-Train is crucial and critical the practice of Arnis, Kali, Eskrima. By combining the aspects of Method, Style and Concept through a comprehensive, informative and effective training system the practitioner of Arnis, Kali, Eskrima becomes well rounded, adaptive, decisive and dynamic making him the best that he can be.
